Known in Europe as the Sunday Bird, Grimaud Farms' all-natural Guinea Hen is a culinary treat during any day of the week. The guinea fowl is a domesticated bird that is also known as pintade, faraona or African pheasant. It used to be a wild bird but is now mostly farm raised. It is similar in size to a pheasant and slightly smaller than a chicken. Grimaud's fowls come from the highest grade French breeding stock to ensure a consistently top quality bird. They are free of steroids, antibiotics and growth hormones. Feed is carefully selected to meet the specific requirements of this breed. Such care in their production results in a very lean, tender and flavorful poultry. Guinea fowl meat is white like chicken but its tastes similar to pheasant, without the gamey flavor.
