Fontal is a semi-soft, pasteurized, cow's milk cheese from Italy. Initially made in France as a copy of the Italian Fontina, it is now produced in Italy. It has a buttery, soft, mild, and creamy taste. It is slightly nutty with a touch of sweetness. Often, it has been compared to Fontina. However, it has a fuller flavor and smoother texture. As it ages, the rind turns brown. This cheese is extremely versatile, making it ideal for the foodservice industry.
